Mother and Son Living in an Unexpected World!!!!!!

Last week I took my son to our local play ground to have lunch ..There he was being adorable as always eating his souvlaki when the kid sitting with his father right next to us decides hes going to walk up to my son …” Awww he wants to hug him he loves babies!” exclaimed his father.. So I sat back watched the little boy who was just a few months older than my two year old.. Suddenly he attacks my son scratching his face and punching him.. You can imagine how upset and shocked I was. And my son just sat there did not cry just looked shocked and scared and held on to his Greek teaching Computer game for dear life.. It Broke my heart to see him so vulnerable..The father apologized … but I still cant help but wonder what triggered this little boy to do this to my son.. This happened a week ago and the scratches are still on his face I get so infuriated when think about the whole incident.. What really got me thinking is that my son did not defend himself just sat there…should I teach him to hit back? or at the least put his hands up? How do I prevent this from happening again or can’t I ???????????????????????????????????????

Mother and Son need Potty Training !!!!

In Uncategorized on August 14, 2008 at 12:40 pm

Well It is about that time to begin potty training my son.. Some say he should be out of the diapers already…. while others tell me it will happen when he is ready. He has been going in the potty (once he is placed on it )and he  lets me know if he has wet his diaper…. but he is not at the stage of telling me BEFORE HE GOES in the diaper. This is an enjoyable experience along with a bit of stress……

looking forward to hearing any stories or advice on how to potty train my son and ME!!!  :)

Raising a Bilingual child

In Uncategorized on August 2, 2008 at 7:45 pm

I feel raising a bilingual child offers opportunities as well as unique challenges and provides a sense of reward ship when you are communicating with your child in your native language and he understands each and every word you say it feels great not only are you teaching them but you are educating them with the gift of a second language. I am sure my son will be grateful for being taught a second language when he gets older

Now when you decide to teach your baby your native language other than English in my experience I think you should expose your child to both languages don’t fall in to the myth that the child gets confused I don’t feel this is the case if you decide to speak to your child in your language you should keep that firm at home in other words communicate with your child with only your language do not mix up languages at home this I feel will confuse your child but I don’t feel you should deprive him or prevent other people from speaking to your child in English allow them to communicate in English.

For example my son learned English mostly from Daycare which he attends 5 days a week 4 hours a day I feel this helped him tremendously with his English speaking skills.

Well off to Housework I go..Feel free to offer any advice you have to offer on raising a bilingual Child and if you would like to ask me any questions
